Science
At Lantern Lane Primary School, we aim to offer a high-quality science education, which provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. Pupils explore this idea whilst learning essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.
Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.
Our learners are also encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.

Science News:
Congratulation to our team of scientists & designers who did us proud at the 3M Young Innovators' Challenge in May 2022.
Their challenge was to use their understanding of forces to design a marble-run that had the slowest running time.
This is what the judges had to say about their marble run....
"In particular, the team showed super evidence of experimentation and design development, and they engaged in an excellent discussion about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. They also showed a good understanding of the STEM principles behind their run: friction, distance & gradient."
