Extended Services

Our extended foundation stage provision has been designed to bridge the gap for parents whose commitments mean they need more than 15 hours per week foundation stage place for their child.

We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children to attend, which encourages learning through play and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

There are two ways of accessing up to 30 hours provision:

  • Eligible parents can take advantage of the Government’s free 30 hour childcare offer, which we offer as three hour morning sessions (8.40–11.40am) and three hour afternoon sessions (12.25–3.25pm), Monday to Friday, term time only.

Information about this, with details of how to register/apply and to check what help you could get with childcare costs, is available from https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

  • Alternatively, if you are not eligible, in addition to claiming 15 hours universal funded entitlement, extra three-hour sessions in the afternoon can be paid for directly to the school via our online payment system.  The cost of each half day session is currently £16.75.

These sessions are booked a term in advance by completing a booking form and a parental declaration form and payment to the school should be made at the start of term.  Booking forms are available from the school office or the foundation unit.  If a completed form is not provided (irrespective of previous usage), a place can not be allocated for your child.

To ensure correct staffing ratios and provide equal opportunity to access extended provision, missed sessions cannot be refunded.

Nursery Lunch Club and School Meals

Nursery children who are staying for the afternoon session are also able to access our Nursery Lunch Club, which bridges the gap between the morning and afternoon sessions by providing lunchtime supervision.  The cost of Lunch Club is £4.00.

A Midday Supervisor will supervise children to wash their hands and eat either the packed lunch their families have provided, or alternatively a school meal can be ordered directly with nursery staff.  The cost of a school meal is £3.16.

All children will be encouraged to eat nicely, develop good table manners and engage in conversation.

After eating, the children will spend a little time relaxing and playing before attending the afternoon session.

Breakfast and After School Club

Children who attend our Nursery Unit are also able to access and attend our Breakfast and After School club for wrap around care. At Lantern Lane, this is run by ACE. All details can be found here.
