Extended Services

Our extended foundation stage provision has been designed to bridge the gap for parents whose commitments mean they need more than 15 hours per week foundation stage place for their child.

We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children to attend, which encourages learning through play and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

There are two ways of accessing up to 30 hours provision:

  • Eligible parents can take advantage of the Government’s free 30 hour childcare offer, which we offer as three hours in the morning (8.40 – 11.40 am – Universal hours) and three hours in the afternoon (12.25 – 3.25 pm – Extended hours), Monday to Friday, term time only.  (See overleaf for lunch time arrangements.)

Information about this, with details of how to register/apply and to check what help you could get with childcare costs, is available from https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

  • Alternatively, if you are not eligible, in addition to claiming 15 hours universal funded entitlement, extra three-hour sessions in the afternoon can be paid for directly to the school by cash, cheque, vouchers or using the sQuid online payment system.  The cost of each half day session is £12.50.

These sessions are booked a half term in advance by completing a booking form and a parental declaration form and payment to the school should be made in advance.  Forms are available from the school office or the foundation unit.  If a completed form is not provided (irrespective of previous usage), a place can not be allocated for your child.

To ensure correct staffing ratios and provide equal opportunity to access extended provision, missed sessions cannot be refunded.

Lunch Club

Lunch Club is held in the Owls room in the foundation unit from 11.40 am until 12.30 pm.

It is available to those children who wish to stay for lunch irrespective of whether their families are accessing the additional Government free entitlement or are paying for extra sessions through the school.

A lunch club supervisor will supervise the children to wash their hands and eat the packed lunch their families have provided. Children will be encouraged to eat nicely, develop good table manners and engage in conversation.

After eating, the children will spend a little time relaxing and playing before going home or attending the afternoon session.

The cost of the Lunch Club is £4.00 for all families.

Breakfast and After School Club

Children who attend our Nursery Unit are also able to access and attend our Breakfast and After School club for wrap around care. At Lantern Lane, this is run by ACE. All details can be found here.
