Relationships & Behaviour
We pride ourselves on having high expectations of pupils and ourselves. Pupils who feel safe, happy and valued are far more likely to behave well, feel calm and in control of their emotions. That’s why we have a ’relationships & behaviour’ policy—positive connections between pupils and adults go a long way!

Our school rules
We have high expectations for all our pupils and our ‘three b’s’ are referred to in all aspects of school life. It’s what we do at Lantern Lane.

Our CARE values
Our values are important - we teach children how to show these every day.

High expectations
Our school community is proud of how well we line up, walk around school and behave in and outside the classroom.

Connection
Establishing positive relationships with pupils is really important for us at Lantern Lane. Greeting children with a smile goes a long way! Your children are very special to us and we pride ourselves on getting to know them well.

Praise
We all know that sometimes, a quiet word of personal praise can mean a lot, but we love to celebrate pupils’ successes through:
· House points. All children are in one of 4 houses.
· CARE wall. A child from each class is chosen to put a ‘brick’ on our wall for following our rules/displaying values.
· CARE assembly. A weekly assembly with parents/carers invited to reward children displaying our values.

Meaningful consequences
When things go wrong, we manage it calmly and consistently. Most of the time, a gentle reminder is all that’s needed. When that is not the case, or when an incident is more serious, we use logical, appropriate consequence for the child’s actions. For example, if the situation has resulted in learning time being lost, the teacher may decide work should be completed in break.
We talk about it when things go wrong, encouraging reflection on what to do next time and how to make things right.

Bullying & discrimination
We do not accept any form of bullying (online/offline) or discrimination. Our curriculum teaches children to respect each other & celebrates diversity through a planned curriculum
