Remote Education

At Lantern Lane Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child can continue to learn and thrive if they are unable to attend school for an extended period. Consistent with our vision of“Lighting the Way”, we aim to provide high-quality remote education that maintains children’s connection to learning, supports their wellbeing and helps them continue to make progress.

Our Approach

Where remote education is required, learning will be carefully planned and aligned with the curriculum being taught in school wherever possible. Our aim is to ensure that pupils continue to access a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by clear explanations, appropriate resources and regular feedback from staff.

Remote learning may include:

• Online learning activities and assignments
• Recorded or live teaching where appropriate
• Access to educational websites and digital platforms used in school
• Practical and independent learning tasks
• Reading, spelling and mathematics activities

Expectations

We encourage pupils to engage with remote learning each day and to complete the activities provided to the best of their ability. We recognise that every family situation is different and will work with parents to provide appropriate support where required.

Support for All Learners

As an inclusive school, we understand that some pupils may require additional support to access remote learning. Learning may be adapted for pupils with SEND or other additional needs, and families are encouraged to contact school if further assistance is needed.

Access to Technology

If a family experiences difficulties accessing remote learning due to limited technology or internet access, we encourage them to contact the school. We will work with families to identify appropriate support wherever possible.

Communication with Families

Strong relationships are central to our school community. During periods of remote education, staff will maintain communication with families and provide guidance and support where needed. Parents who have questions about remote learning should contact the school office, who will direct enquiries to the appropriate member of staff.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remains our highest priority. All remote education arrangements will be delivered in line with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
