Payments

To make life easier for families, Lantern Lane Primary School operates a fully cashless payment system through School Gateway.

Using School Gateway, parents and carers can quickly and securely pay for a range of school activities, including trips, residential visits, school meals, nursery sessions and clubs, all from their phone, tablet or computer.

This system helps reduce the need for cash and cheques, providing a more convenient service for families and a safer, more efficient way for the school to manage payments.

On admission, families will receive details on how to register for School Gateway.

Alongside this, we use our school communication platform to keep families informed about important administrative matters such as:

Payments and nursery bookings
Contact information updates
School dinner arrangements
Planned closures and emergency closures
Other key school notices

School Dinners

School dinners are free for full-time children up to the end of Year 2, as part of the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme, after which they should be paid for using School Gateway.

From the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, free school meals eligibility – for children in Year 3 upwards – is being expanded to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit, regardless of household earnings. You can find out more and apply here.

School Milk

Free milk is available for:

children under the age of five
children receiving free school meals. The eligibility criteria for free milk entitlement is exactly the same as for free school meals.
