School Uniform

Aims

Our policy is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school and engenders a feeling of belonging

  • is practical and distinctive, identifying the children with the school

  • is not distracting in class (as fashion clothing might be)

  • makes children feel equal to one another in terms of appearance

  • reflects the sense of both community and diversity that the school takes pride in

  • is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents.

All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This is especially important, as uniform items look similar and can easily be confused for another child’s. 

Uniform​

All children (Nursery – Year 6) should wear:

  • A dark green cardigan, sweatshirt or fleece (items with logo can be purchased online/from school office)

  • White or dark green polo t-shirt, shirt or blouse (items with logo can be purchased online/from school office).

  • Grey or black trousers, skirt, pinafore dress or shorts.

  • Green/white or gold/white gingham dress.

  • Grey, black or dark green tights.

  • Flat, black shoes.

  • Grey, black or white socks

During winter months, children may wear wellington boots to school but these must be stored in a bag and indoor shoes worn whilst inside the building. There is no requirement to wear items with the school logo on.

PE Kit

For PE, all children need:

  • White or green polo-shirt or t-shirt

  • Black/green shorts and/or black tracksuit bottoms or leggings for outdoor PE

  • White/black trainers.

  • Grey/black/white socks

Jewellery & Appearance

On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery to school (except for small, flat stud earrings and watches). These must be removed for all PE lessons. If earrings cannot be removed then children will be asked to wear tape over them for health and safety reasons. All other jewellery is not permitted, unless permission has been granted by the head teacher following a written request due to religious or medical reasons from the parent/carer.

Children are not permitted to wear make-up and/or nail varnish to school. Long hair must be tied back securely during PE lessons.
